RELEASE DATE: 22 MARCH 2019
The forthcoming independent release of ‘Deceived By The Lights’ is a watershed moment for multi-instrumentalist and past member of a number of genre spanning bands, Omar Anthony. It marks the culmination of a search for a sound which encapsulates the wide variety of music that has influenced the two time UK Songwriting Contest semi-finalist.
Having cut his teeth as a solo acoustic live performer, Omar Anthony gathers inspiration from dance, funk, pop and rock to reflect these uncertain times, blending drum machine based grooves with strong guitar riffs and melodic vocal hooks. It is a colourful clash of old and new, the now electronic set-up first showcased in front of an enthusiastic crowd with a room-filling return performance in the Black Country at the end of last year.
‘Deceived By The Lights’ deals with our attraction to the bright lights of the big city, its unusual fusion of Drum and Bass rhythms with acoustic guitar attempting to convey the hazy confusion of a hedonistic night out. It also features the original version of the song, recorded years ago at the beginning of Omar Anthony’s adventure as a solo artist… ‘Deceived By The Lights’ charts the evolution of a sonic journey, hinting at what’s to come.
Omar Anthony will celebrate the release of the single on all major platforms by handing out limited edition CDs at his next live performance when he supports the song’s producer and ex-bandmate Fatbwoi at the Soundhouse in Leicester on Sunday 24th March.
