I have stated before that this year is a good one for live melodic rock with a lot more shows than we are used too! So with three Melodic Rock Festivals scheduled for this year HRH AOR, Skyfest & Firefest – I’m pleasantly shocked to announce their will be another melodic rock festival this year. I have very few details at the moment so can only report what I do know. Rockaggedon will happen on November 17th at a yet undisclosed venue with all details promised to be revealed on April 22nd – the show was announced with the tagline ‘A Melodic Rock Dream’. More details as I discover them.
There is a lot of positive buzz surrounding the long awaited new album from Stuart Smith’s Heaven & Hell. The album Dig is out on April 23rd and a video for the song ‘No Money, No Love’ can be viewed below.
Finnish Glam rockers Stala & So are to release their new album through Escape Music. ‘Play Another Round’ will be released on the 12th April and feature’s the Beau Hill produced single ‘Rock Until I’m Done’. I wouldn’t be surprised if these guys hit the road in the UK for a few shows this year after the success of supporting American glam-sters Vain in the UK, including a show at The Robin in Wolverhampton.
The Rock Candy label are back with another quartet of re-mastered classics from yesteryear and as we have been accustomed, they will be re-mastered to the highest standard and will include well produced informative booklets! The releases are the Wild Horses self titled debut album and ‘Stand Your Ground’. Freddie Salem & The Wildcats – ‘Cat Dance’ and Lightning Raiders – ‘Sweet Revenge’.
One of my favourite UK musicians, Steve Newman, has just announced some details of what he’s up to at the moment. It’s just been announced Newman will be performing live at Melodic Rock Fest 3 in Chicago, USA; of course us UK fans will have the opportunity to see Newman at HRH AOR on the 7th April. A few line-up changes have occurred this year and we will see the new members live at HRH AOR, so it’s goodbye to drummer Nic Lispcombe and bassist David Bartlett and hello to George Haworth and well known and popular English drummer Pete Newdeck (Tainted Nation/Edens Curse).
Steve is hard at work on a new album scheduled for a release in the early summer. The album is currently being recorded and is set to feature another co-write with long time friend Nick Workman (VEGA) and two co-writes with the ever busy Pete Newdeck. An authorised biography of Jeff Scott Soto entitled ‘Stand Up And Shout….The Story Of A Rock Star’ is to be released shortly. It covers the entirety of Jeff’s career right up to present day. It will be available digitally for Kindle, ibook and ebook, but a VERY limited number of advance copies on a USB will be available from the merch stand on Jeff’s April European tour.
Swedish melodic metallers Vindictiv have signed a deal with Escape Music for the release of their third album ‘Cage Of Infinity’. This album will feature the debut of their new singer Marco Sandron (ex-Eden’s Curse) and guitarist Stefan Lindholm promises the latest album will be more of a straight ahead heavy metal album.
In April the Avenue of Allies record label will be release a trio of releases including Laneslide ‘Flying High’, Charming Grace and Paris ‘Only One Life’.
Laneslide were assembled by Italian guitarist and songwriter Bruno Kraler AKA Brunorock and features Frank Vestry on vocals. The return of Vestry makes this a highly anticipated release!
Charming Grace is a project put together by Italian songwriter Pierpaolo Monti (Shining Line) and Wheels of Fire vocalist Davide Barbieri. The album will feature an all star cast of vocalist guests singing duets with Barbieri. There is a bit of a buzz surrounding this album and it could possibly be one of the strongest traditional melodic rock albums of the year. Amongst the guests is Nick Workman of VEGA!
Melodic rock newcomers Paris feature duo Frédéric Dechavanne and Sébastien Montet. They have collaborated with Alessandro Del Vecchio on their debut album ‘Only One Night’.
March 11th was a landmark release date for Melodic Rock fans seeing the releases of Bon Jovi What About Now, FM Rockville and VEGA What The Hell!
Maxine Petrucci is set to release her third album ‘Back To The Garden’. It will be available from all the usual suspects including Amazon and CDbaby.com!
Frontiers Records will be releasing the following albums in late March. Pretty Maids ‘Motherland’, De La Cruz ‘Street Level’, Stryper ‘The Second Coming’ and Sebastian Bach ‘ABachalypse Now’.

Whitesnake guitarist Doug Aldrich has announced a third album by his band Burning Rain. The album entitled ‘Epic Obsession’ will be out in May via Frontiers Records. I’m very much looking forward to hearing this one as I’m big fan of the first two albums!
Greek melodic rockers Danger Angel have a new video out for ‘When I’m Gone’. The song is lifted from their recently released album ‘Revolutia’, which is well worth checking out! These guys have the Jeff Scott Soto seal of approval and will be supporting JSS on his forthcoming European tour including The Asylum in Birmingham on the 5th April Check the video out below…
UK melodic rockers Lost Weekend have been confirmed as the support act for Dante Fox’s headline show at Lucy’s Bar in Hednesford on 19th April. Lost Weekend will be performing an acoustic set which will preview songs from their forthcoming album ‘Evermore’.
Brummie melodic rockers Daylight Robbery’s scheduled headline show at Lucy’s in Hednesford on 24th May has just got the little bit more special. Supporting them that night will be Skin & Bone and local rockers Shyne.

Well here we go more details about the new Melodic Rock festival Skyfest. It’s set to take place on the 21st and 22nd of September at The Intake Club in Mansfield. The Saturday night line-up will see Danish legends Pretty Maids headline with the rest of the line-up featuring VEGA, Summers, Cornerstone, Redrum, I AM I, Daylight Robbery, Code Of Silence, Estrella, Teazer & Last Breath. The Sunday line-up will feature Rage Of Angels as the headliners along with Knockout Kaine, Rob Mancini, Moritz, Coldspell, Doris Brendel, Hang Fire, Tainted Nation & The Room. Anyone remember Adriangale? Well I do and I can excitedly report they are back! They have a Best of… scheduled for release in September to coincide with their return live appearance at MelodicRockFest, but the best news of all is their new album due at the same time entitled ‘Suckerpunch’. That one is definitely on my must buy list!
Escape music are releasing the new Giuntini project album ‘IV’ on May 5th and if features ex-Black Sabbath vocalist Tony Martin on vocals!
Tainted Nation have added guitarist Joel Peters (Fury) to the line-up as they prepare for live shows including as show at The Diamond in Mansfield on the 20th April and of course they are playing the recently announced Skyfest.
Timo Tolkki’s Avalon is releasing a new metal opera album ‘The Land of New Hope’ on May 17th via Frontiers Records. It features a whole host of guest vocalists including Sharon Den Edel (Within Temptation), Russell Allen & Michael Kiske. A digital single for ‘Enshrined In My Memory’ has just been released, it features the vocal talents of Elize Ryd of Amanrathe and the video can be viewed below.
I think most will be excited to learn that Night Ranger are back in the studio with a new album due in September. Here’s hoping they can escape London when the support this one live! I’m not going to hold my breath but we can dream!
Skid Row have a new EP out on 16th April. The five track album ‘United World Rebellion: Chapter One’ features songs including ‘Kings Of Demolition’ and ‘This Is Killing Me’. Skid Row are on the road in the UK during April including Headlining HRH AOR and Leamington Spa Assembly on the 12th.
Love/Hate are back on UK shores for a string of live shows including The Slade Rooms, Wolverhampton on 3rd April and The Vault in Rugby on the 6th.

Popular Scandinavian melodic rockers The Poodles have a new album ‘Tour De Force’ out this May via Frontiers Records. The album will be preceded by a digital single ’40 Days and 40 Nights’ in late April.
The new album from Snowfall ‘Code Of Silence’ will be released via Escape Music on April 19th. The sound bytes I’ve heard for this promise for a strong album and it also features Black Country vocalist Lee Small. Keep an ear out for this one!

And finally… German melodic rockers Fair Warning return with a new album ‘Sundancer’ in May via SPV/Steamhammer.
