Birmingham-based Dawn After Dark issue their first new recording in 32 years when ‘Maximum Overdrive’ is released to all streaming platforms on Friday 27 August. The song, which the band is giving away as a free download at their website, www.thedawners.com, is accompanied by a stunning video from director Oliver Fowler.
‘Maximum Overdrive’ is the first track from Dawn After Dark’s debut album, which will be released on Chapter 22 Records – the label that originally released the band’s three late ‘80s EPS – in December. Recorded in Birmingham and produced by Andy Taylor, ‘Maximum Overdrive’ is an unforgettable anthem that’s the perfect way to celebrate the return of live music.
The band will play one London headlining gig on 18 December, The Dawners’ first appearance in the capital in over 30 years – and will be Very Special Guests of Balaam And The Angel for three UK shows between Christmas and New Year.
“We did an unforgettable UK tour with Balaam back in ‘88,” says vocalist Howard ‘H’ Johnson. “So it will be amazing to be back playing shows with old friends like we’ve never been gone!”
