Countdown to Bloodstock – Interview with Voidwalker

0

With Bloodstock now looming into view, Midlands Rocks will be running a series of interviews with some of the bands scheduled to appear at Catton Park. Emily Castles sets the Bloodstock ball rolling by chatting to Leicester’s Metal 2 The Masses winners Voidwalker – who you can catch on the New Blood Stage on the Friday.

MR: Many congratulations on winning Metal 2 the Masses in Leicester – did you go in feeling confident?
Thank you! – We found the competition to be very fierce this year. Every band we had the pleasure of sharing the stage with played really well, so we didn’t want to get our hopes up!

MR: What were the highlights of the night?
In the time leading up to the announcement we were watching our friends in Feral State, which is always a blast but we must admit we were bricking it the entire time! And of course, watching Paradise Lost was a treat.

MR: How did you find the M2TM process overall?
We really enjoyed MT2M both this year and last. We’ve met so many great people and heard so many great bands across both years, who we’ve then gone on to play with again. It really is a great opportunity for bands who are looking to really get involved with the metal scene in their area.

MR: You released the single ‘Tar Stained Lips’ last year – have you been pleased with how that’s been received?
The response has been great, so great that we’ve consistently used it as our closing song for about two years now, both before and after we released it.

MR: Are you working on anything else in the studio that you can tell us about?
We will have a new EP released this year; it’s been a while in the making but it’ll be well worth the wait.

MR: Had you been fans of Bloodstock before M2TM – have you been before?
Our bassist Joe has been to every Bloodstock since 2015, but for the rest of us it’s our first time. Time to see what he’s been banging on about for all these years!

MR: What can fans expect who may be seeing you at Bloodstock for the very first time?
We combine tight grooves, technical leads and crushing vocal performances with the mindset of progressive music. Come down to the New Blood on the Friday and throw some shapes! For fans of: Archspire, Fit for an Autopsy, Suffocation, Enslaved, Meshuggah.
