Nuclear Blast

Keeping the momentum going from our first introduction to the fantastic Blues Pills with their Devil Man EP, they’ve elected to release another teaser EP, this time a live performance from famed German show Rockpalast.

Teasing us with just four tracks, it represents the bands live experience perfectly. Believe me if you’ve yet to see this band live, you’re in for a treat. The vintage swagger of the band emanates from the speakers like an oozing lava lamp. Then there’s that glorious voice of Elin Larsson, soaring, raw and leaving a lasting effect on you. No, four tracks is simply not enough. The jam of ‘In The Beginning’ morphs into the stomping ‘Black Smoke’ that sees the band let loose on their instruments with a maturity beyond their years. ‘Little Sun’ is a meandering, mesmerizing trip before once again letting the band loose on the instrumental ‘Mind Exit’ which features some truly stunning guitar work from Dorian Sorriaux.

Blues Pills are a band with a ferocious live reputation. We all await the debut album with heightened anticipation and two EPs are simply not enough. But for now we should be grateful we have at least that.
