by Paul Castles

Orange GoblinLondon heavy rockers Orange Goblin played at the very first Bloodstock when it was held at Derby Assembly Rooms. One of the festival scene’s most welcome performers, what better way for the quartet to celebrate their 20th anniversary than playing the main Ronnie James Dio Stage. Paul Castles spoke with enigmatic frontman Ben Ward afterwards.

“Our tour with Down in the States was a dream come true for us. They’re one of the bands that influenced us in the early days. They’re all heroes, not just with Down but with the other bands they’ve played in such as Pantera, Crowbar, Eyehategod. We were hanging out with Phil Anselmo singing along to old Motown hits, crazy!”

Orange Goblin play the Slade Rooms in Wolverhampton on Dec 3 and Rescue Rooms in Nottingham on Dec 10.
