The Hobgoblin New Blood Stage at Bloodstock plays host to emerging young metal bands from across the UK. Paul Castles was there to speak with several of them, starting with Hertfordshire melodic metal heavyweights Countless Skies. With a scintillating second EP just out, and a debut full length release planned for the end of the year, the sky’s the limit for Countless Skies.
‘At the time when we entered Metal 2 The Masses they were the biggest gigs we’d played. There’s a lot of talent in metal bands around Luton so we had no expectation of winning. We just thought we’d have some fun and it was mind-blowing just to get through the first heat! Then we got through the second heat, it was – oh my God! To win it was incredible. But coming to Bloodstock and playing here we blew it all away, just absolutely amazing.’
