In little over a week from now the gates of Catton Park will be thrown open and thousands of metal fans will gather in deepest Derbyshire for Bloodstock 2016! The open air festival in Derbyshire runs from 11th-14th August and once again features a formidable line up. Here’s just a few of the bands who will be appearing over the course of the weekend…

FRIDAY 12TH

Headlining on Friday night will be Twisted Sister, playing their last ever UK show.

Polish quartet Behemoth also play the Ronnie James Dio stage on Friday night.

Rising stars Hark take to the main stage on Friday. The band are currently working on their second album, the follow up to the impressive ‘Crystalline’.

Having previously supported the likes of The Scorpions, Saxon and Korn, Beyond The Black make their first UK Festival appearance on the Sophie Lancaster Stage.

Also taking to the Sophie Lancaster stage are The Charm The Fury. The band, who hail from Amsterdam and have recently supported Marilyn Manson are currently working on the follow up to their début album ‘A Shade Of My Former Self’.

SATURDAY 13th

Headlining the Ronnie James Dio stage on Saturday are Prog Metal titans Mastodon

French band Gojira, who recently released their new album ‘Magma’, also play the main stage on Saturday evening.

Fear Factory  make a welcome return to Bloodstock – here’s a clip of the band at the festival’s 10th anniversary in 2010.

Norwegian band Shining feature on the Sophie Lancaster Stage on Saturday night.

Also playing on Saturday are London melodic metal band The Raven Age.

SUNDAY 14th

Closing the festival on Sunday night are thrash icons Slayer. Here’s a clip of the band at Bloodstock in 2013.

The legendary Anthrax also return to Bloodstock having released their album ‘For All Kings’ earlier this year.

High octane British metal band Dragonforce take to the main stage on Saturday night. The band released a career spanning Best Of entitled ‘Killer Elite’ in April.

New Orleans band Goatwhore bring their own brand of debauchery to headline the Sophie Lancaster Stage on Sunday…

Also playing the Sophie Lancaster stage are Exeter band Sanguine. They released their second album ‘Black Sheep’ earlier this year.

NEW BLOOD 

If you get chance it’s always good to go and check out some up and coming bands at festivals – and these are all on the Hobgoblin New Blood Stage.

There’s a lot of Midlands bands performing across the weekend too, including Witch Tripper, Husk (Wolverhampton), Garganjua, Conjurer, I Saw The World Burn & Birmingham band Valous.
