Texas will be playing Birmingham Symphony Hall on the 1st September as part of the Skyline Series with support from Imelda May and Ward Thomas.
Texas formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 1986. Their debut single ‘I Don’t Want a Lover’ reached No.8 on the UK Singles Chart. They released their debut album Southside in 1989 and two more albums in the early 1990s and a comeback album in 1997 titled White on Blonde, which produced four top 10 UK hits. Their 9th studio album, Jump on Board was released last year to critical acclaim.
Irish musician Imelda May released her first album in 2003 titled No Turning Back, but her career truly began with her 2008 album Love Tattoo which reached No.1 in the Irish Album Charts. Her third albumMayhem reached No.1 in Ireland once again and No.7 in the UK. Since then, she’s released a further two albums: Tribal (2014) and last year’s Life Love Flesh Blood.
Ward Thomas are the 22-year-old twins Lizzy and Catherine Ward Thomas from Hampshire, England. The country duo were barely out of their teens when they became stars with their 2014 debut album From Where We Stand. Their sophomore album Cartwheels marks a slight change of direction and sees them venturing into pop territory. It became the first country album to reach No.1 on the UK Albums Chart and has since achieved Silver status in the UK.
