Nolentia – May The Hand That Holds The Match…

Or to give it it’s full title: May The Hand That Holds The Match That Will Set This World On Fire Be Blessed Above All. Long, huh? It’ll probably take you longer to read that than it will to listen to the seventeen grindcore-blasted bastards that make up the album’s thirty minutes. Elements of death metal, hardcore, sludge, crust, doom and punk infuse Nolentia’s slamming grooves. A relentless barrage of ferocity, May The Hand… is intense, dark and dense. Jarring guitar noises clash with doom-laden beats while disjointed chords and scarring riffs are beaten to a bloody pulp. But despite a few nice touches here and there, it wears thin after a while. It’s all good grind – good being the operative – but it’s not great. If you want to watch the world burn, put your feet up and put this on. But if you want to burn the world and be that blessed hand, there’s much better out there already.
