Festival Preview – 2000 Trees, July 9th – 11th

2000 Trees, 9/10/11th July 2020, Cheltenham

Fed up with the corporate scalping at most modern festivals, six friends had the seedling of an idea to stage their own. That seed has grown into the rather excellent 2000 Trees, an event held over three days that showcases the very best of alternative rock.

Held in the rolling hills of the Cotswold countryside, 2000 Trees have just announced their final line-up featuring over 120 bands. Headlining Thursday are Arizona’s Jimmy Eat World. Having released their stunning 10th album Surviving late last year finds them riding the confidence wave so expect an energetic mash up of rock, emo and post-punk. Other highlight’s on the opening day include the theatrical horror punk of Creeper, the Sabbath-inspired satanic sounds of Saint Agnes, hardcore legends Anti-Flag and a solo set from the Muncie Girls’ Lande Hekt.

Friday looks equally as strong with headliners AFI. Hailing from Ukiah, California, they’re best known for their classic album Sing the Sorrow but expect a greatest hits set including singles ‘Silver and Cold’ and ‘Girl’s Not Grey’. From Osaka, Japan Crossfaith bring their futuristic brand of metal. Famed for their intense live performance they’ll be tearing up the main stage by fusing metal with hardcore and dubstep. Highlights on an already stellar bill are The Amazons, Silverstein, Boston Manor and Against the Current.

Closing the final day will be America’s post-rock luminaries Thrice. In what promises to be a special set they’ll be performing their experimental and complex album Vheissu in full. Having raised the bar of brutality in metalcore Knocked Loose won’t be taking any  prisoners.  Ginger Wildheart will be performing a unique solo set in his own inimitable style while fans of Mastadon and Oceansize should definitely check out Brighton’s Black Peaks. Other bands to look out for include Static Dress, Wargasm and False Advertising.

Hosted on a compact site 2000 Trees has a friendly family vibe and with a limited capacity buy your tickets as soon as possible.
