Denim & Leather NWOBHM festival to give Olympic security gaff girl a night to remember

After the recent incident of a girl being told to remove a T-shirt emblazoned with the logo of Rock band Weapon whilst attending the Maidstone to Guildford torch relay, NWOBHM Gigs who are putting on the Denim and Leather NWOBHM Festival at the Slade Rooms, Wolverhampton on September 29th, are offering 2 backstage passes and tickets to the girl. Weapon themselves, who are appearing at the gig along with Praying Mantis, Stampede, Gaskin, Krusher Joule and Agincourt, will be meeting her, and generally giving her a day to remember, something the Olympics failed to do in a big way.
Festival organiser Roger Fauske, pictured below with Weapon vocalist Danny Hynes (centre) and guitarist Jeff Summers, said “If they care to get in touch, the head of the OC and security will also be offered the same hospitality.”
Talking about the incident, Weapon vocalist Danny Hynes said “I was flabbergasted to hear the news that a young girl attending the Olympic torch procession in London was pulled from the crowd by security guards and taken to a tent where she was interviewed by Police because she was wearing a Weapon t-shirt.. Their reason for doing this was “in case the t-shirt would offend someone” BuROCKcracy gone mad! Is it only a matter of time before the U.K. becomes a Police state and bands get arrested and thrown into jail like the poor unfortunate musicians in Russia!”.
Guitarist Jeff Summers said “After the S4 security fiasco and panic recruitment of inexperienced cover, i can’t say i’m surprised by what happened but treating a young girl like that because she is wearing a Rock band T is about as ridiculous as it gets. Do they think that potential terrorists would advertise themselves at the games?”
Roger Fauske added “we can assure everybody that if you turn up in olympic themed attire, you will be welcomed with open arms and definitely not arrested!”
The gig, probably THE UK NWOBHM event of the decade, takes place at The Slade Rooms in Wolverhampton on September 29th.
