Korpiklaani’s folk and fun approach to metal has endeared them to festival crowds across Europe this summer. Paul Castles catches up with violinist Tuomas who explains how the band are doing more than Finland’s education system to keep alive the nation’s mythological heritage.
“The new album has a totally different balance with the folk and the metal elements. The entire band agree that we’ve finally found the correct balance. I think we’re finally a full metal band. And yet the new album has accordion solos and violin solos.”
